More likely 350-400. Appeared as ice began to melt pm. Waders at flood Oct-Nov: when Autumn rains added to already high water table in Oct and barred access to P60, I started checking for floods for gulls and waders as I always do. Dunlin started at barely double figures. They, and other waders, were affected by volatile water levels (too high= no mud = few birds), Nov Storm Ciaran was significant in this. Dunlins numbers grew from 10s to 90 in mid Nov and 200+ by 17th, when some mud was appearing. So, with forecast dry weather, I messaged Lew that waders should increase as mud exposed. 23rd and 24th Nov saw quick increase in muddy areas. More birds were expected. Ironically, I could not watch for long on 24th. I counted 300+ from my limited viewing point. I messaged there were probably more. SNT then arrived and his count of whole flock @500+, put mine firmly in the shade. The same factors affected the numbers/types of other waders seen in the period. I didn't predict ice rather than mud for today though! No waders in am - but these returned in pm as some ice melted. All the waders flush a lot and can be distant: constant low RAF planes, loose dogs and occasional raptors are the causes. .

Much more water in the hole area. Quick look first thing. Lots more water Presumably too much for some species and/or the more widespread flooding in the area has created fresher wader habitat. Golden plover flock gone except a handful. Lapwings and gulls reduced.

I wasn't planning a pm count. Dunlin flock initially grew to 36 (downed by showers?). Eventually, the flock grew to 64 as counted 3x with clicker.
