The first-summer initially found by Mike Wallen during the morning at Hulcott flood was relocated by Adrian Bayliss on the main marsh at College at 1446. It quickly moved to the far NW corner of the larger lake and was showing well for the hour that I was present until when the reserve closed from the Marsworth Hide.

From Octagon now. P.S. spent just a few minutes in front of the hide, allowing a quick record photo, before being mobbed by gulls. It did a circuit of the Marsh before heading north over the bund but almost immediately turned back and had another attempt at settling on the Marsh. Once again Black-headed gulls drove it away from the islands back towards the lake and it looked like it might leave the reserve but instead settled on the northern shoreline and chalk bench where it foraged for the rest of the afternoon.

1st summer male (2cy). Near Hulcott, on private land with flood with no access. With MSW. Incredible to find this bird on floodwaters in arable farmland. It once left the site and flew north-east, returned for a while then flew off south-west but looked to come down quite close by. Photographed. Bird subsequently re-located to College Lake this afternoon.
