Ferruginous Duck, Oxey Creek, 1 (Adult male), 19th January to 11th March, off Oxey Marsh with Tufted Ducks at 14.50. Flew off towards Normandy at 15:00 Moved to Posbrook Flood the following day and then stayed in the area until 11th March (at least) although seen at Hooks Links on 25 Feb . IC

Crane, Bransgore, 2 (Adults), 24th April, I heard one bird calling initially, & knew immediately what it was. Then watched them flying over, with two other people - large birds with long necks & trailing legs. I lost then to view , but one of the other people had moved further up, & called me back as the cranes had been circling for a few moments, but by the time I could see them again they were departing to the north west. I was so surprised, but I feel they are unmistakeable. IC

Pomarine Skua, Keyhaven Lagoon, 6, 1st October, Picked up at ~1740 when scanning the Solent from the seawall alongside Keyhaven Lagoon. All moved together as a group, headed west and passed over Hurst Spit out of view within a couple of minutes. 2 pale morph adults with complete spoons were immediately apparent. All the other 4 birds were very similar in size/structure - getting on for Herring Gull size (plenty of BHG and HGs in same scope view for comparison) and moving with relaxed, steady flight, into a relatively light north westerly wind. 2 juveniles. 1 was relatively pale, the other a darker intermediate. The other two birds were perhaps immature birds - resembling pale phase adult, without spoons. Didn't get a good look at the underwing barring in the excitement.". (Steve Lavington)OK
